SEO – Yes, I said it.
Ever wondered how people get high in the ranks of search engines? Mainly Google? Well, in this post I’ll be talking exactly about that!
You see.. people forget the necessary things like… Meta tags… extra links on their page.. and yes… ONE ad, or many ads in places where they are not annoying. Or noticeable, but not annoying?
Ad’s get you noticed on websites. Also bring in revenue. Ad’s help focus people to your website believe it or not. Because if someone searched a certain something, well.. your website can be linked to it AT that time of the indexer. So if your website is indexed by Google at the time an “AOL”: ad is displaying.. the next time somone searches for AOL, just maybe your website will show up JUST because you had that AOL ad on your website.
Extra links? Oh yes.. don’t forget to include your friends links, blogrolls, whatever you wish to call them – but include them. It’s ALWAYS good to have extra links on your page, even if they are not related to your website. in exchange, most likely, the other websites that you include on your website, those websites will include your website link on theirs. It’s an even exchange. Why to do this though? Lets say that my website was crawled/indexed.. and it seen your link. Well what do you think it’s going to do? Just sit there? No! It’s going to head on over to YOUR website and start indexing it. Neat huh? having your website high in the ranks is quite easy, but you must have patience! It can take up to 2 weeks for anything to happen.
Meta tags? Yes….. <meta Etc… You know? It’s good to have every page specifically meta tagged, or a main meta tag so that the search engine will properly tag the words. This is VERY important. Also, include in the head section of your page for the bot to re-index after ‘3′ days. OR don’t include it at all. Matter fact, the Google Crawl Bot automatically adjusts to how much your site advances. meaning, the more material that shows up on your website, and faster, is exactly HOW much more often the Google Crawl Bot comes back to re-index your website. And when that does happen, everything I just discussed takes place.
Another thing is, write write write write! Don’t be afraid to write long paragraphs on your home page, BUT make it TO THE POINT! Do not include useless junk on your front page. Make sure it’s “enough,” but not “useless.” Does that make sense?
There’s plenty of SEO tools that you can use to also help determine exactly how you should have your website. However, a unique website brings out the BEST of a website. That does make sense, just think about it slowly.
So all in all. To at least get your website in the high ranks of the category OF your website… following these tips should be useful to you, and many others.
Good luck!
FolderShare
I was showed (Yes Showed) something earlier tonight that was worth the trying, even though it was managed from Microsoft *makes icky face* …. FolderShare… allowing you to sync folders together across different computers. Even use it on different internet connections if you are signed in on the same account on the foldershare program.
It’s perfect for people who get fed up with all that networking crap. Samba, regular windows networking, linux networking, etc. Although the advantages of this is, You can take Mapping Hard Drives to a new level. I mean.. Hell, I could map my friends drive even if he is all the way around the world – Using combined techniques.
There’s many others like it. iFolder, PowerFolder.. and a few others that I’m forgetting right now. iFolder works on Linux by the way. FolderShare can work on Linux with the help of a Virtual XP/Vista that is sharing it virtually. Thus mapping the drive, If that’s what you want to do.
Check out the picture.
Very Interesting huh?
I use it for lots of things now. Even though I had a much more complex setup before, this makes things “on the fly” literally “on the fly.”
http://www.foldershare.com
Add-On To Post;;
There is some needed info though. FolderShare does support UPNP. Meaning, it tells your router what to do or what ports to open. So if you plan on downloading from a remote computer, make sure the ports are open on it that it needs. Keep in mind, you can find these port listings in the settings of FolderShare.
If you don’t want UpnP just turn it off I guess?
Oh, and you can’t share more than 2GB Files. Well.. I think you can, but you can’t download them.
However, I guess, If you are using this on a LAN, ports may not be an issue.
Throttle, now a cap?
Sucks now that Comcast is starting to haunt down on customers. They have issued a 250gb cap by the 1st of October?.
lol sometimes I wonder if I’m going to exceed that or not….hard to tell, but we’ll see!
Google Chrome
Well. Google Chrom web browser has released! And it is wonderful. Finally a browser with style and slimness. Although I guess that would fit into with the “style.”
It is sometimes a little buggy while playing flash videos. As when I was playing videos from youtube and switched back to another web page, it sort of lagged? Or just a quick freeze? (I call lagging where it’s slowly moving, but this freezed) – That’s the only bug I’ve found so far, other than starting off with a fresh browser again.
This supposedly runs on Linux, however I have not tried it yet. Providing I use with WINE it should run fine
.
There is only a few things that is missing…. such as the middle scroll button.. You know where you click in onthe scroll button and then just move the mouse up or down and it slides along the page?
The flash bug
The error i had with the flash was actually not that bad. It frooze, then came up with an error and asked me about it. To be honest I forget what it said (even thought it only happened about a half hour ago). So far it has user error control. Keep in mind I did not read the review on the google chrome website before downloading this.
Anyway, GOOD LUCK GOOGLE! I love this browser, and will probably use it even more. Maybe it’ll even become my main browser.

The Microsoft Raid
Well.. It seems that Microsoft has released some useful products for once. Not something you’d expect from Microsoft, not saying that all their products are useless, however most are costable. The ones that I’ve tested are completely free? Must be registered though after 30 days I do believe. Wich that should not be a problem for anyone. The question is after 30 days, is it still free? I have yet to figure that part out.
The programs I’ve tested?
I’ve tested out Microsoft Express: C#, C++, VB, and Web Development. I tested out the Web Development Kit first because I’m really/more interested in Website products than others. It is mainly based on building websites around ASP(/.NET). I don’t really use ASP unless I really have to. I don’t really have that much experience in ASP.NET although I do find it interesting for those create web programs using it.
The C# was interesting, considering everything is “Visual” as in “Visual Studios.” It’s a limited version. To my understanding it’s missing a lot of things. What is it missing? I don’t know. But i do know that it is good for those who like flexibility and have programmed with Visual Studios. Same thing goes with C++.
As far as the VB half, It just wouldn’t work for me. It wanted to convert everything I loaded into it. Keep in mind all the Express products are 2008.
Facebook Open Devving?
Heh, It seems that ALSO, Microsoft and Facebook has teamed up to offer open development for Facebook. Microsoft has released a SDK for Facebook that allows you to create desktop application(s) to test, or distrobute/install the application onto Facebook. They offer documentaion in VB and C#. Can you do it with C++? I don’t know. But it is surely a great coming from Microsoft that they are doing this. Facebook seems to be a widely used communication website for many people. And with development becoming open, this will give people a chance to create MORE for Facebook itself, instead of Facebook struggling for ideas. I’m very impressed with the Facebook Development idea. I say, take a shot at it to you web Development people, it definitly become useful
TOO MUCH SPACE!
I tell you what, all of the Microsoft products take up way too much hard drive space. It was almost 2gb just for the Web Development (if that is even the right program I’m talking about). I advise you just download the whole offline install and burn it to DVD-R, or mount it.
You can check all this out at http://www.microsoft.com/express/
Out.
G-Zapper, More like G-Crapper
I’ve just came across the stupidest thing I have ever seen dealing with computers. It’s about Google, and other related SE’s (Search Engines, e.g. MSN, Yahoo).
This “G-Zapper” will clear the cookies from google and other search engines used to help the search engine itself. For say, the Google search engine inputs a cookie that says what you’ve searched for the last 24 hours. Then when you go back to the website it pulls that same cookie from your computer, and uses that for reports.. Such as what you have searched for, how long it took you to click a link after a search (I don’t I’m just going off the wall).
The same thing happens with other search engines, Including MSN Search, and Yahoo. Except they probably do it in a different manner… As I haven’t seeen a search engine work so uniquely like the google se.
The funny part about this? G-Zapper charges you to remove these cookies from your computer. Yes, that’s right… a whopping $30. To remove COOKIES.
Can you say a rip off to the people that have no clue what they are using this program for? When they could be doing it themselves with the proper browser itself. FireFox, allows you to search the stored cookies on your computer if you wish. See for yourself, it is in the Options/Prefs.
Now can you tell me what is so hard about removing that yourself? Would you rather want to pay for something so simple, or just do it yourself?
The search engines input these sorts of cookies for purposes obviously. To help improve their search engine, for YOU. Why continuously delete their cookies all the time? They help YOU find what YOU are LOOKING for.
On the website of G-Zapper it also talks about how they could possibly use this information later on and sell it, or something they were saying. Yea, right… come on… like Google or any of them would do such a thing.
Pitiful
WinMX Patch Page – Source
I had entered for the WinMX World patch page competition and made a page. I didn’t win, however I had fun doing it. I wasn’t able to make all the changes i wanted, and was basically done with it. But still had fun
So i’ve decided to hand out the source for anyone who would remotely want it.
Notice, some things have been removed & others are extremely slimplifed. Not TOO much complicated stuff in it. I kept it clean.
Here is the website demo: http://www.isnick.com/mx/
Here is the source: http://www.isnick.com/mx/source.zip
I removed the images out of the compressed file (obviously you can tell by how small it is). If you want those get it yourself. I also removed the download/lister/logger part. It however does have the OS Detection included.
I hope it at least helps someone learn.
Enjoy. and congratz to the winner.
ISP’s And BullShit
Well… it seems that the throttling/blocking or whatever has finally hit my area. I’ve noticed great difference in some speeds. What is it with these FCC people? And the other ones that are most likely involved with this stuff? Do they not realise that you could make more money if you’d quit throttling such things (or even blocking). Hell, people would see that the ISP is free to be, and come and use it for what it’s supposed to be used for.
Everything has gone to shit lately with Internet Companies. Even in the UK they have made it hell for customers in the last 2 years. Throttling them.. even some complain of slow HTTP connections. I’ve also seen it myself as well. I mean come on, we pay anywhere from $30 to $300 for decent and nowadays, we aren’t paying for the speed and reliability, we are paying for them to purchase throttling software and use it against us.
Edit Add-ON:
Again, in Aus they are being trampled by Internet prices. It’s so expensive to get a decent connection over in Aus, (even NZ) anymore. I’m not even mentioning the rest of the companies.
I know a guy that lives in Canada, and pays around 200$ (if not more and in Canada Money) for his satelite internet and he can’t even host a single thing. Not even a simple web server, or game server. And he’s constantly throttled if even tries.. so there’s no point in even doing it is there? What kind of service is that? “Lets charge you a lot, but you’ll still get your money worth. Use yahoo and msn a lot”
Nowadays, it seems to go back to dial up would be the best route. Broadband companies all over the world seem to be falling apart, because of harrasing laws around them. Torrent sites closed in the USA, can barely run them in the UK, a no no in Canada… You have to get the server over seas now just to run anything. P2P and Torrenting classed as “bad” and “you shouldn’t do that.” It’s getting scarey guys… next thing you know we’ll be surfing through tunnels trying to protect our passwords to emails. Oh wait, they can already access our email by any means.
What next?
