The New ()Ubuntu Hardy

I’ve tested out the new Ubuntu Hardy, and i have to say it is actually working out pretty good. I’ve also tried Kubuntu, well I’ve installed the KDE Ubuntu half.. and just ran it as another session.

The support for Hardy has greatly improved since prior versions of Ubuntu. One big one for me is the wireless. In 7.04 flavors of Ubuntu the wireless did not work at all for me… although it could’ve just been that I was using a cheap wireless card. A USB Wireless built into the desktop.. it worked well on Windows.. but then again the driver is orginally for windows.

Then I had went to 7.10 flavors and the wireless worked, however it would disconnect after about 3 to 4 days. Sometimes if I did too much with it, it would disconnect right away… now that was really annoying. But at least it was improved.

Then I had went straight to 8.04 flavors, and the wireless worked right out of the box.. flawlessly… sorta.. It works as far as stability. Now as far as speed? Sometimes it’s extremely slow.. almost like being on wireless. But at least it doesn’t drop!

The new wines also run good on the new Ubuntu’s (8.04).
